The word "eventually" has to also be qualified in reference to the word "adolescence" in terms of having a sequel where your star clearly isn't the same "kid" since she's got a lot of potential for change before "eventually" would come around.

Despite who Bill is talking with, there's a huge gap between what is wanted and what is financially do-able for the producers. And the further we get from TGC, the more likely they'll take into account Dakota growing up.

take it for what it is worth. Bill Hunt is someone who wants the films made for whatever reason, a true fan or for the paycheck, probably both. Both worthy reasons. He said he believes it will happen eventually. So do we. So this is in no way a confirmation. He's been told, but by who? Warner intends to do them eventually. Doesn't know when the news will come. I'm not too excited, but at the very least he has not been told it's dead. This news will show up on all the blogs and message boards, hopefully enough buzz to force someone from WB to address it. Of course, unless Bill Hunt is really stupid, he would not make it up, but he was a bit too careful. As far Dakota, replace her, she was ok but nothing special.

Bill Hunt and The Digital Bits don't have any sort of stake in what movies get made, there's no "paycheck" for him to get. He doesn't have a horse in this race. He's a movie enthusiast who runs a movie enthusiast site, with a TON of contacts among the movie studios. He's just telling us what he's heard, and his information is usually quite reliable. In any case, he has no reason to make anything up either way.

And with Dakota... From the beginning on Chris Weitz said they will have to find an explanation for the fast grwoing of Lyra in the movie. Maybe the journeys etc.

And I think it was Eva Green who said at the premiere, shootings would be in the beginning of 2009, when they would continue, so they knew that dakota would be older in the 2nd movie.

He has no direct paycheck, but as a "columnist" or enthusiast, getting the scoop on a movie can only make you look good, make your business more "legit", increase hits, increase advertising, whatever,so that's all I mean. Getting this sort of thing before anyone else, or at least verifying that you are for real as a source is his bread and butter. He had already stuck his neck out with his previous quote. Hey, I'd love for this to be the news we've been waiting for but so far it just means someone (who?) told him it looks like they may still get made, sometime, eventually. He wants to be right, I'm sure he believes he's right, but I won't pop the bubbly just yet. As for DBR, for continuity, the fact that she is recognizable as Lyra, and she has already experienced with the role I'd like to see her remain and I honestly don't think the growth factor is such a big deal if they do it within even 2 years (hey, it's Hollywood). I'm just saying as far as acting skills there's a thousand other girls just as good if not better, and if she gets replaced I won't lose any sleep.

This is awesome Neo. Thanks for being dedicated lol. This isn't rock solid confirmation, it may just be a rumor. But any bit of encouragement we get for a TSK movie is great. If WB's lowest ranking coffee-brewing lackey said he thought there would be sequels, I would be satisfied.

I looked through the list of booths that were going to be at Comic Con. Nothing with New Line, Warner Brothers, etc. I was hoping NL would have a booth set up for the Hobbit, and MAYBE give us a little sumthin sumthin else. But I guess not. Hopefully I missed something and there is a booth there with SOME connection to HDM.

I don't know if his confirmation is valid, but at least this proves that there are quite many people wishing for the sequels. Maybe New Line could feel tempted to make the movie adaptations of TSK and TAS

I hope so. But it kind of seems like a long shot now, since they have all of the new projects now and haven't announce anything in a while. Most likely it going to be a couple of years if they decide to make the films.

Well LotR fans had to wait some 50 years before getting any film adaptations. That's excluding the animated versions. So maybe we'll get some really good sequels. Sh1t, look what's happened. I'm carrying on like some wishy-washy defeatist.
