Something strange.

One day,when I was alone,I was sitting on a chair and looking into the road.When I looked back towards my house,I saw a strange creature standing in front of me.It had a fox form,squirrel's tail,cougar's face,dog's legs and cat's eyes.
His body was light orange and had really bright red stripes everywhere on his/hers body.On face,legs,tail etc.And,his/hers end of tail,legs and ears were blazing with fire.

THat animal looked at me and quickly dissapeared.And,one strange thing,that time I was thinking about one person that (I think) had a fox Dæmon,just like a form of this creature.

What do you think about this?I'm a bit scared...

Just as they say about the devil, if you will your dæmon into existence, he may just show up.

What you saw was real to you for as long as it lasted.

There was nothing in reality, no one else saw it, it wasn't really there. But you mind made it real for you in that moment, and you saw a lot of confusion as to what you're dæmon's form might be.

Your dæmon pulled a fast one on you. When your dæmon is confused about it's form it will tend to suddenly appear as tons of different animals. Believe me, once your true personalites come through he will narrow down his forms to at least 10 or 5 forms.

Why are people this obsessed with Dæmon?

Is the real world and real life not special or exciting enough?

Most of the people making creepy threads and posts like this should probably read up on something somewhat similar that happened in the Final Fantasy fandom a few years back. It's not cute or funny but with the apparent disconnect between fantasy and reality I'm seeing around the HDM community regarding Dæmon, I think it's something that needs to be brought up before it's too late.

I read some of that and thought: "oh God, can this really happen?" and then: "Well, obviously...."

But somehow I don't see the Dæmon as something similar? I mean... well, maybe I'm biased since I'm a TheDaemonForum daemian, but I see Dæmon as introspection, a mental construct, a decision (a decision to talk to yourself in yourself in your head, to think in dialogue). It has nothing to do with reincarnation, magic or suchlike, only the mind and YOU.

All the things described on that site have something to do with this Jen and Hojo, right? They were the center of the whole thing. They were manipulative. Jen had pretty much no money at all, so she was using others. I'm happy for the people who got away and saw what was going on and could free themselves from the whole mess. No-one's trying to profit from innocent Dæmon and stuff their heads with nonsense, manipulate them to believe in stuff they really don't or wouldn't like to.

Plus... how old are the people who talk about their Dæmon as physical beings here? Not old. (Is there an age limit on the forum?) Anyway. If they are smart, they see the errors and harmful things in their thinking. They have time. I saw mine, and maybe one day I'll decide not to believe in mental-construct-daemons anymore.

It might well be that I see the concept of Dæmon differently today, not as the HDM -daemon, but the TDF-daemon...

BUT. I believe one shouldn't believe that Dæmon are real in the way they are in His Dark Materials, no. They are not. They can't be physically touched or seen or heard.

PS: I do see your point, however. Mixing reality and fantasy isn't a good thing if it starts to affect, harm the normal life.

I concur. The dæmon is another manifestation of The Voice In The Head.
The voice in your mind is difficult to place, so using metaphors like the dæmon to attach it to something, can make it easier to listen to.
