And a cold beer if you don't mind
But yeah, that would help a lot.
Let's just say I don't like bounds, not in love not in anything.

"quis custodiet ipsos custodes?"
"Whatever you fear most has no power. It is your fear that has the power"
"The Zen master said, "Who binds you?" The seeker of liberty said, "No one binds me."
The Zen Master said, "Then why seek liberation?"
"A man who conquers others is strong. a man who conquers himself is mighty."

I kind of feel like we got off our specific point, which I can't even recall right now, and are now just circling around. To be honest, I am confused. I am going to say. I respect your ideas, although I do not fully understand your definition of the world omnisexual. And also I don't think the angels were romantically in love.
Take some time, elevate. It's never too late to lose the hate.
I think there where.
Aaaaaand back on topic!
But let's take a raincheck on that love conversation for when we meet inna pub, ok?

They have to have a life, you see. Same with the greek gods. They were men and women and they were sexual and all that.
My soul is shaped like an otter civet! Just check out those whiskers!
I think it was pretty clear that they were romantically in love. The way Balthamos talked about Baruch, the way he was so entirely destroyed when Baruch died... that just isn't 'brotherly love'. Authority's quotes on page one are hard to deny.
And since they were both described as 'he' while at least one other angel was described as 'she', I suppose they have genders of a kind. Unless that was merely appearence, who knows. I guess maybe genders and sexuality are just completely different amongst angels; it was never really explained in enough depth.
But they're either gay or things are just different for angels. I don't think there's much question that they were in love.

Mea mihi conscientia pluris est quam omnium sermo.
Multi famam, conscientiam pauci verentur.

I am lovin Rakesh's quote, Who Watches the Watchmen. The book is a masterpiece, if that is what inspired you to put the quote there
Anyways, I still think that they are supposed to show a homosexual relationship. I could be wrong though. But it would make sense. They were banished, weren't they? And they possibly joined Asriel's cause because of it.

Depends if you are refering to the clasical play or the comic book.
If it's about the latest, yah, it's brilliant

I do think that the love between Baruch and Balthamos was romantic. But I'm not sure if the words "gay" and "straight" hold any meaning for angels. These are human concepts and I don't think they can be applied to beings that are so utterly different from us.
Their true physical form is unconceivable for us; their "bodies" are not even solid like the bodies of any other creature we know; their knowledge about the universe(s) and their view of life is fundamentally different from ours. They may not even be sexual in the way we are. If we assume that Baruch and Balthamos are both "male" in the way that we would define it and that this holds any meaning to angels, then they are in a gay relationship. But I'm not sure that it's that simple.

My Dæmon is a luna moth and his name is Laefe.
As far as I could see, they love each other in every sense of the word. Why wouldn't they have sex? How else to angels reproduce? Just because they have little solidity in any of the universes in HDM, doesn't mean there isn't a universe where they are more solid. Or perhaps it's jus that human eyes don't 'see' them properly. Anyway, they are able to embrace, so why not anything else?
I agree you aren't going to get any full-on descriptions of gay sex in these books, but you don't get any full-on descriptions of any sex!

Traveller of distant realms...
I just knew they're in love, and the name suggests male sex? that's it. I dunno gay and stuff.

I think its obvious they were gay together. Though I do wander how the rest of the angels feel about love cause Balthamos and Baruch seem to be the only two to ever express theirs.
And thou, profoundest Hell,
Receive thy new possessor - one who brings
A mind not to be changed by place or time.
The mind is its own place, and in itself
Can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven.
What matter where, if I be still the same,
And what should I be, all but less than he
Whom thunder hath made greater?
We have to build the Republic of Heaven where we are, because for us there is no elsewhere.

Re: Gay Angels?
I think angels can't really be classified as "gay" or "staight", because, while they have genders, they lack flesh, and I think they simply fall in love and thats all.
I love His Dark Materials and Circles. Both remind me that being alive is more important than go to Heaven.

Re: Gay Angels?
Ignorant humans might think of them as 'gay'.
To other angels they are simply in love.

They've been at one another's side for a Very Long Time so it is only natural to expect that they would forge affection for one another. I guess I just didn't see any over or undertones of that love being of a more romantic variety.
Like brothers ever love each other with that intensity. they were soulmates, and when baruch died balthamos felt it. He felt some kind of pain or loss, he was spiritually connected to him. that's what romantic love is. Love between angels is a lot more intense in that way, with a strong connection.
Re: Gay Angels?
I read articles of PP stating his view on this subject, and it seemed as if he was saying that they had a very strong bond and love shared, but it was a type of love so that any "physical" stuff was not experienced.
I'll try to find the articles......

Re: Gay Angels?
Angels are neither male nor female--I think I remember reading that only one was male in his former life. Angels can be human are non-human--they are androgynous, gender-wise and species-wise.
bad drawing of a bad idea (worst offense possible)
Re: Gay Angels?
They also do not have any flesh, they are beings of light. Love is obviously shared between them, but I don't think that they would necessarily be considered gay.

no, only one was human once. Balthamos is still a male angel, even though he was never living.
