I'm mid way through the books for the umpteenth time, but a few things occoured to me about dæmons. Not to be purposefully crude, but when humans go to the toilet do dæmons aswell. At first i thought this unlikely as they're a persons soul, and supposedly more spiritual than physical. But there are moments which could suggest other wise. Such as Pan eating a bug in bird form if they eat, then what else... when they get injured do they bleed etc.. there are many fights between dæmons in the books, but never a direct description of them, only a sharing of pain between human and dæmon I suppose what i'm trying to say is are dæmons subect to the physical effects of their settled forms, as real animals would be also....?

Eating-wise we really only see Pantalaimon pecking at the omelette bits in TSK at the café.
I don't recall anything about blood, surprisingly. "Red fire" of some sort spills out of one of the Tartar dæmons when Iorek slashes at them, but that's a distinct killing of the dæmon. Perhaps somewhere in the Asriel & Coulter fight with Metatron, I know Asriel's bleeding at the end.

Since Dæmon and humans are bonded to such an extreme level, I'd think that when Dæmon ate something, some of the energy would be transferred to the human. Dæmon were hardly mentioned eating anything in the book, and thus I think it wouldn't be needed much at all.
Unless you're stuck in a desert and have a camel for a Dæmon, if you see what I'm trying to get at.

Well I didn't think that Dæmon had the same kind of requirements as real animals since they are an extension of yourself, (what mie said) and also are made of a different kind of matter. I used to think it was Dust but I'm not sure if that makes sense!
Flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
I always thought that Dæmon were just a part of you, obviously. I mean, like, lets say you were stranded in a forest and your Dæmon was a fox- if he ate a rabbit it would help you gain strength as well as your Dæmon. Or, you gaining some strength would make the Dæmon gain strength, as well. I don't think that Dæmon would go to the bathroom juat because their owners do..
I dont think Dæmon would have physical needs like normal animals mainly because i dont think they have internal organs like normal animals.
How Phit said in fight between the tartars and Iorek when he slashes the Dæmon red fire spilled out. I see them as simply being filled with a spirtual type of energy.
And as far as Dæmon being made out of dust i dont think they are. Angels are made from dust and they have little physical power and are hard to see. Not to mention Dæmon dont seem to play by the same rules as angels, (such as telling the truth) suggesting their not made from the same stuf.
