Get That Audio Book!

Got the Audio cd's off Amazon.co.uk. for a ridiculously low price of £42.00. Jo Wyatt as Lyra is first rate as is Steven Webb as Will in TSK, however, in TAS Will is played by a different actor (Peter England) who although very good isn't particularly convincing as a 12 year old. My 12 year old son agrees with me btw.
I noticed recently that Garrick Hagon who plays the part of Lee Scoresby also played a minor role on Star Wars Ep. IV that of Biggs Darklighter a part that was cut for the original release and partially restored for the re-release. I wonder if he specializes in characters that have spectacular deaths!

Only bad thing about downloading off iTunes is the legal playing limitations. While it's fairly well priced, consider just buying the real thing off the BBC.

I've found iTunes to be higher priced than Amazon for Audiobooks. iTunes has removed the AAC proprietary codec last year so this may be a little dated. The cost is still high though so I went to the library and checked them out and spent a few, quite a few, hours feeding my PowerBook iTunes, created a playlist for each book and can now enjoy them whenever.
These audiobooks eat a lot of GB's when completed so I had to cut a few playlists and Podcasts™. I also have an iPod™ BOSE™, which I love because I can have it on in the background while working on other things. So, if you have your iPod and a good library...

Crikey this is a thread revival
Yeah, iTunes has changed a lot since then. Ooo you have a Powerbook? Have you considered upgrading hard disk?

Re: Get That Audio Book!
I should have clarified my 17" Powerbook™. I use this laptop on my bedstand and love it even though I have an edit room across the hall with a G-5, eMac, and Mini-Intel. My Powerbook goes with me in a special pack that rests on the rear of the seat on my wheel chair. I've loaded all Pullman's books that are available on CD, also Potter and Dan Brown. My 30GB iPod™ holds Pullman and Potter (sounds like an Attorney firm?) and anything else goes on my 8GB iPod™. I stay with my Powerbook because it has 800 FW. I have 2-500GB Lacie and 3 160GB iOmega and Lacie pocket drives. Besides Audiobooks I do a lot of Video and Audio work.

I've written to the publisher, but had no reply from them about it.
Anyone else have a similar experience?
Yes. I had one download from Amazon (Mp3) that refused to completely download all tracks. They were very prompt in correcting it, but I purchased the CD's for that book because I felt it was worth it for a small increase in price.

Re: Get That Audio Book!
I really like the audiobooks. Its great how it has the full cast, although the switch from Steven Webb to Peter England was very hard to accept. I throughly enjoyed Webb's voice as Will. I'm not really happy about the change in cast for the amber spyglass.
Re: Get That Audio Book!
Same, I thought the Steven Webb was the perfect voice to Will. Peters voice was to mature, so it was hard not to vision a grown man with Lyra. I liked Lyra's voice, but I think that that girl who played Kirjava would have played Lyra just as well.
One thing I didn't like was Rogers voice.....it was played by the actress who played Serafina, I think, and it was just too akward.
Overall, though, I thought it was really cool to have real voices telling the story.

I guess I'll try it. I'm not usually a big fan of listening to audio books.
Re: Get That Audio Book!
I got the Subtle Knife on CD. So I will spend the rest of the night listening to that and the whole weekend should be fun.

Re: Get That Audio Book!
I think they're all good, especially because they have a full cast (and yes, Steven Webb makes a better Will)
