I thought they were closer to 13/14 by the end of the books, although i could be wrong about how much time passed.

I got the idea that they were around thirteen...wasn't there a line that implied that Lyra was thirteen? Something like: "...and Marisa felt as light in his arms as she had when Lyra was conceived thirteen years before."

Something like that.

Well, it take about nine months total for a child to be born, so if Lyra was concieved 13 years before, subtract nine months, and she'd be just over 12.
I'm guessing that Will was around the age of 13, maybe even fourteen, since males tend to hit the age of puberty at a later age than females.

In Ireland we get sex ed at twelve so Will could have know about the nasty. Lyra is another story but in TAS it says the tree they were sleeping under had all-concealing leaves.

In some cases, sexuality develops naturally without any guidance. You don’t have to pay attention in the biology lesson to get sexual feelings. So it doesn’t count very much if Lyra or Will were educated in school about sexual processes. What you really need to practise is not what you learn in class. Lyra’s and Will’s feelings were so strong for each other that it could be possible that they were overwhelmed by them and did just what they were told by them.

The term 'sleeping together' is a euphemism for sex, but when its literal it doesnt imply anything.

Apart from the intimacy of sharing a sleeping space. That takes some deep, true love. People are ANNOYING to sleep beside.

I read the book several times and I never found anything about they having sex. They were just kissing and hugging!
They were too young if you ask me...

can someone who believes they DID it, post here a quote from the book or something? So they can prove it to the others...?

jovana there isnt any quote or anything to indicate it.

There is however a empty couple of hours where they get quite intimate and are all alone.

Yes, kiddie sex is book banning offence.
So, Pullman just left gaps.
You fill in the gaps mentally.
You get a conclusion which may or may not be right.

The books are already banned though, even without their maybe intercourse. PP must have known that the books would have been banned for their "killing god" theme. My guess is that having two 12-13 year olds having sex, no matter how much they may have been in love, would have had a difficult time with the readers, something that he would have taken into account when writing the book. There are just some fine lines that he avoided by not specifally stating whether or not L and W had intercourse.
A good decision, imo, because he gives room for the readers to decide what happened in those moments, based on their own personal standards.

Its not even that. PP more than likely didnt fill in those few hours to give Will and Lyra some privacy.
You can respect your own characters in a book.

I think every fantasy series has a dozen fan fics regarding sex between characters haha. Harry Potter being the least conspicuous. I think MuggleCast mentioned one with McGonagal and the Giant Squid.
