Re: The saddest part of TAS
I was between Pan and Lyra and Lyra and Will... they were definetely the saddest parts. It was absolutely heartbreaking to read through Lyra's suffering in the land of the dead, which were a whole lot of tearjerking chapters, but Lyra and Will's goodbyes do it for me everytime!
Re: The saddest part of TAS
^Still need to get over that part..
But I found all of the things mentioned there very sad. You're starting to love all the characters in the end. And then they die,

The books wouldn't have been as good if everyone would've survived though

Re: The saddest part of TAS
True, it would have been more tragic if Will died though, just a thought
Re: The saddest part of TAS
Oh that's actually a good idea
Would be lots easier to accept for me *evil thoughts*

Aww yes indeed:) I have that difference with many of my 'real life' friends as well
Re: The saddest part of TAS
lyra and will seperating... i don't think i could even manage to do that. that takes like insane bravery.

paving the arched pale moon was like entering the storm, beautiful and electric.
Re: The saddest part of TAS
Why does PP have to write such sad endings to the books? End of book 1: Roger killed by Lord Asriel. End of book 2: Lee Scoresby and John Parry killed. End of book 3: Will and Lyra separate forever. WHAT DOES HE HAVE AGAINST HAPPY ENDINGS?
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean everybody's not out to get you.
Re: The saddest part of TAS
^must say its interesting to read books every now and then that dont have a happy ending
even though i may not agree with what happens in it

Re: The saddest part of TAS
Books with happy endings are usually boring. Honestly all the deathes etc. did not faze me, except MCs. I have no idea why. I found the whole thing with Lyra and Will more annoying then anything. Maybe it's because I can't relate, or maybe I'm just jealous
Re: The saddest part of TAS
The only death that bothered me was Lee Scoresby. He rocked!

Re: The saddest part of TAS
i voted for MC. Idk that death made me cry so much
Nothing else really did. I mean other parts are sad but werent enough to make me cry or anything like that
Re: The saddest part of TAS
I thought that Lyra and Pan separating was the most sad and dramatic part for me because I remember the scene as the boat was drifting away from the shore where Pan was just sitting there with his eyes round in sorrow and pain. I don't usually cry while reading books, but this sort of made my eyes tear up.
You can hurt me with the truth, but you can't comfort me with your lies.
