Golden Compass unveils interactive feature
A new interactive feature called Meet Your Daemon has been launched by New Line Cinema on its official website for the upcoming film The Golden Compass.
Based on author Philip Pullman's best-selling and award-winning novel, The Golden Compass, due for release on December 7, is an exciting fantasy adventure, set in an alternative world where people's souls manifest themselves as other creatures.
The cast includes Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Ian McShane and newcomer Dakota Blue Richards and is written and directed by About A Boy's Chris Weitz.
The new feature, at www.goldencompassmovie.com allows users to discover exactly what daemon best represents their personality, and then allows them to take their daemon avatar with them by embedding it on their own website or MySpace page.
"This feature lets you personally experience one of the most unique and engaging elements of The Golden Compass," says Gordon Paddison, Executive Vice President, New Media Marketing.
"You can identify your daemon and then share it with your friends and social networks on a variety of digital platforms."

Not that it hasn't been done before…
But cool, though.
Although they have made a mistake: "Dæmons can communicate telephatically with their humans" ???
I don't remember reading that in the books.

Funny, my friend just got the exact same thing as you MB. Also made me a shiny new Scoresby avatar.
I'm happy to say New Line's marketing efforts are getting out there, people are approaching me about HDM updates now!

Clearly they can sometimes communicate telepathically, because the Golden Monkey never speaks, and Lyra can definitely feel Pan's feelings, if not his exact thoughts.

Finally got to take it. And still a fox dæmon, that was always my guess perhaps I consciously choose in that direction. Remis. Reminds me a bit of that jolly young Roman pair. 779 fox dæmons with a total population of 43,144 - we tracking that at all?
Love the handwriting, same as Lord Asriel's in the anniversary editions I believe. And very near Pullman's.

#13 Another tiger...
I always loved tigers, and i was born in the year of the tiger… but for some reason i didn't suspect that my daemon was a tiger…
It is!
I have also been doing the daemon test for characters from my novels and stuff… justto find out that little bit more about them…
Did anyone notice that they toned down their alethiometer as well… cause little kiddies will access it… they removed sin and sexuality from the meanings…

Your answers were probably too different… i had a very strong minded, opinionated character that i was doing it for, and i had to change her a little bit to make the give me a daemon for her… i had to try like 10 times… It gives you the name of the daemon, then that begins to fade, and then just kinda freezes yeah?

It's a good quiz, but I must say has some innaccuaracies in animal choice, such as an unusually large amount of arthropod choices: spider, ladybug, and moth. Insect daemons are rather rare. And the amount of variety seemed limited, but the quiz was entertaining and asked good questions.

By the way, for those of you interested in daemons, I highly suggest the Daemon Page and Forum, at http://www.daemonpage.com/

Figment-
Mine gives a name and then fades too. How did you manage to have one show up...make the answers less opinionated? That could use some work then…
