The first actual movie footage from The Golden Compass is now available to the public. The footage is probably best described as an early teaser-teaser trailer and features raw, untextured renders of landscapes, cities and shape-shifting dæmons as well as a look behind the scenes and introductionary notes by Chris Weitz, Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig and Eva Green.

I can't stop watching it, I'm amazed, I really am. Chris Weitz talks so beautifully and accurately about the series, it's such a full picture he's already talking in terms of. I'll never understand why or how he could ok that armor for Iorek. That's really something I don't think I'll be able to look past.
And Dakota Blue Richards seems to have this permanent accidental sort of slight stubbornness to her- that's really very excellent something I'd always seen in my favorite cover images of Lyra. Love it when she smashes the fire alarm, don't like it when she whacks the tartar guard with his rifle - not a child's weapon and she's still very much a child where any purposeful action should not be accompanied by adult weapons and intentions.

#11 Great!
Don't know how that movie was made public, I don't think that was intentional…
Re Iorek's armor:
Deborah Forte said that the picture of Lyra sitting on Iorek in full armor was a very early concept art and that the final armor will look different. Closer to what we've seen in the pictures of the action figure I guess.

This is glorious.
The alethiometer is still awesome, the actors are going to be outstanding, the dæmons, the zeppelins, Bolvangar, the bridge, the...everything. But where are the brooms? Guess they'll be cutting out the part where Lyra chooses the correct cloud pine then.
Thanks for putting it up! :)

Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! That was almost better than a teaser trailer! I can't believe this is happening! And I'm so in love with the scene where Lyra rides Iorek without his armor. I think I'm going to go watch it again and again =]

I still can't believe this is happening!
I am so ecstatic and the trailer was amazing.
I remember when I finished the series for the first time hoping there would be more because I loved it so much
Then there were rumors about a movie and I watched the fan-trailers. Then I heard New Line would take it up. Now I am completely awed that this series is coming to life so gloriously.
It is truly wonderful and the trailer gave me the chills.... so beautiful. I can't possibly be more excited, everything in the trailer was so grand almost exactly like I imagined it to be!!!

you're quicktime version doesn't work. I can't download from YouTube on my computer coz I don;t have the necessary application. I'd really love to see this trailer, but it says when I click on "Download The Quicktime Version Here" that the page has been moved. Could you please try to fix it? Coz I'm really desperate to see this now!

Em, try installing an updated version of Flash player. That will allow you to view the movie on YouTube.
The QuickTime version has been removed from the editing company's website, so for the moment you'll have to stick with the YouTube version.

Absolutely gorgeous, that's all I have to say. Whoever had the idea of a 'pre-teaser' teaser over at New Line is my hero. I'm totally impressed with the way they designed Lyra's world- better than I could ever imagine- and of course, they've made a Dream Team with the cast: Love it, love it, love it.
Turning a much loved book into what could be a much loved movie is not an easy feat, and it looks to me as if everyone involved in this film really understood that, and achieved it, too. It's real and it's ready and it's coming not even remotely soon enough.
Today is a very good day : D

Oh my Gosh! It's everything like I've ever imagined, and now it's there, and it's moving exactly like it should be...Gloriuos:that's the word!
And yes, the one who imagined a trailer with cast and crew is a sort of genious.
Oh, I'm so excited!
