Yesterday evening saw New Line celebrating not only the true start of their promotional efforts for The Golden Compass, but also their 40th birthday.
The event was held at the lovely Villa Rothschild near Cannes, and featured amonst other things a huge statue of Iorek, a bar carved of ice with ice statues of Ragnar, a chocolate fountain, and a photo corner where visitors got the chance to be edited into the movie poster.
We took a few pictures at the event itself, which we'll post soon. In the mean time, you can find a few of New Line's photos in our image gallery.
Yahoo talked to Craig and Eva on the red carpet, see what they said.
Variety wrote a negative rant regarding the party, but that's probably because they hoped the party would be a press event. Of the cast, only Daniel and Eva weren't really accessible; the rest of the people involved with the project were out and about having a great time. Considering the fact that the cast had just sat through a few hours of interviews it's not surprising that they'd rather rest than talk to the journalist.
