BookTrade reports: Philip Pullman will host Waterstone's Writer's Table this autumn. Launched earlier this year by Sebastian Faulks, The Writer's Table allows its curator to reveal some of the books and authors that have shaped and influenced their writing.
"Our first Writer's Table was a great success, and really captured the imaginations of our booksellers and customers," said Toby Bourne, head of fiction at Waterstone's. "We are extremely excited that Philip has agreed to choose the titles for our second Writer's Table. We're looking forward to an eclectic and thought-provoking selection of books from one of the nation's greatest and most popular writers."
Pullman, whose bestselling Northern Lights was last year named 'Best Book of the Last 25 Years' by Waterstone's Booksellers, will be given free rein in choosing every title that appears in the promotion providing the titles are in print in the UK. Pullman's table will launch in selected stores and at Waterstones.com on September 4th, with his handwritten thoughts accompanying each of his forty titles.
