I hate Ian McKellan in that vocal role. Nonso Anozie had it so perfectly.

But, but! They redid Iorek’s armour! I’d gotten used to it, but it looks spectacular now - really genuine to what the character would need.

I think McKellen sounds fine.

And it looks gorgeous.

Jez looks Impressive But I really cannot warm up to Ian McKellan as Iorek. I do agree Nonso Anozie had the voice down pat what a shame.:( The more I see of DBE i think see has nailed the role of Lyra though

You know, it’s a shame they ditched Anozie - he sounded really good.  BUT we really didn’t hear much of him, and you know Ian McKellen is a ****ing amazing actor - he’s not too warm and cuddly or anything.  I have a lot of hope he’ll do a good job.  So now they have two British white guys fighting it out.  You know Ian McKellen steals all scenes and is rather good luck for New Line fantasy.  One more huge movie star.  He’ll be good, and he’ll help the film a lot.  What’s the last movie he’s been in that hasn’t been at least a very substantial success?

YES ARMOR ARMOR ARMOR SO AWESOME!!!  If the team makes that kind of change I have so much hope.  That’s the spirit of Iorek there!

Sorry for the repeat post.  Actually, that’s just the rusty, pre-cleaning armor.  It’s, alas, the same in the old trailer.  Anozie’s voice is more elemental and less human, it’s true, but I trust McKellen.  All right, that DBR interview and filming clips completely and irretrievably sold me on her.  Now I’ve finally seen enough.  I liked her before, but in these more extended scenes she absolutely is Lyra perfectly.  And Freddie Highmore seems cool - much better than an adult.  I hope he doesn’t chant “Iorek! Iorek!  Iorek!” in the movie, though!

That chanting is weird! Pan becomes a bit of the antagonist at the end-end, but it’s still weird.

Of course the armour’s the same in the old trailers - they’re old! Look at the new bits only - specifically compare the parts of Iorek’s facial armour you can see in my avatar. You can make out where the dico-portion was but it’s not there. And watch the “Iorek trampling Tartar guard” bit - see how the face portion has a cut-away cheek portion on my avatar? It’s solid down that side in both scenes of armoured Iorek - different armour!
