If you were unable to attend the October 9th Trailer Debut Party in New York City, you've not been forgotten. Contest winner and attendee Aimee has written a brief synopsis of the event and added some video featuring event host Sam Elliot on stage and the countdown to the trailer premiere.
If the theatrical trailer release for The Golden Compass movie was not enough, add onto the cake a 40th birthday plus a trip to New York City. Truly a city which does not sleep has a certain flow to its street venturing crowds that one has to master before traversing. Equipped with three digital cameras, mine with video capabilities as well, did we approach the heart of New York as a group of unconditional internet acquaintances.
Rockefeller center at first seemed like a small opening in between massive buildings, and not until we entered its vicinity did we realize the gorgeous layout of it: full with an ice rink and giant projection screens to show the trailer in an hour's time. Ice skating was slow and steady so as to take in every detail of the Sam Elliot interviews, of the grinning moments, and to be careful not fall! Up front taping the trailer was moi, and it surely did start raining as the trailer came to a close. Underground, we discovered there to be prizes and giveaways such as a quizbook and movie posters. Afterwards we parted and went our separate ways.
HisDarkMaterials.org's coinciding online trailer release party, trailer countdown, and trivia challenge was also a well attended and - hopefully - enjoyable event. Trivia winner for the event was WhoHash83. Congratulations! With over twenty-five correct answers given, future knowledge questers have a great reputation to live up to.

Well done. I’ve watched that trailer tons of times, but this time it was like I was there on the ice with the rest of the screaming fans. Very exciting. Many thanks!
