2003, the year that followed 2002 and came before 2004 saw some big events, and a lot of small uninteresting ones.

  • Eragon, by Christopher Paolini[1], and some Harry Potter books, were published.
  • It was the International Year of Freshwater, one that was soon over...
  • On February 15, there were global protests against the Iraq war: more than 10 million people protested in over 600 cities worldwide, the largest war protest to take place before the war occured. [2]
  • On March 18 - May 1, multinational forces(at beginning - United States, United Kingdom, Poland, Australia) began the invasion in Iraq.
  • On July 21, many children were on holidays.
  • On September 9, Israel's prime minister, Ariel Sharon, maked the first ever visit by an Israeli PM to India even as neighbour Pakistan raises eyebrows and Islamic countries watch silently. [3]
  • On October 17, a girl called Maia turned 15 (at least it´s very probable).
  • On December 1, the use of hand-held mobile phones while driving was made illegal in the United Kingdom. [4]
  • On December 31, the year was almost over.
