Alamo Gulch

A ravine in the world of Cittàgazze. The ravine does not actually have a name, but is referred to as "Alamo Gulch" because the battle there reminds Lee Scoresby of the battle of the Alamo. The ravine is the place where, at the end of TSK, Lee chooses to confront the Magisterium soldiers of the final zeppelin, the only one John Parry had failed to destroy. Lee uses the gulch as a choke-point to buy Parry time to escape and reach the bearer of the Subtle Knife, in the belief it will help Lyra. Lee manages to kill all but a few of the soldiers, but he is himself mortally wounded. With his last bullet, he destroys the zeppelin and the fireball kills the remaining soldiers.
