Angels' Rebellion

Refers retrospectively in the His Dark Materials trilogy to a rebellion started against the Authority's kingdom amongst the Angels. The rebels being in the minority, their attempt to overthrow the Authority failed in the face of those angels who still believed in their ruler's intercession in their creation. Banished from the Kingdom Of Heaven, the surviving rebels sowed other means toward returning to the field many tens of centuries later.

In her communion with Dust through her computer, Mary Malone learns that angels altered the course of all evolution to create biological species who would be rivals to the Authority. This bares many implications concerning the angels' view of biological sentient lifeforms.
