Anomaly, The

The Anomaly is a window located in Alaska, which leads from Will's World to Cittàgazze. John Parry, having heard about the Anomaly, goes on the survey of the Nuniatak Digin 1985 to find it- he succeeds and wanders into Cittàgazze. After his two companions are killed by Spectres, he finds another window that leads into Lyra's world. He was not alone in his search - the Soviets had sent a spy to try to locate the Anomaly as well, but the spy was probably killed by Matt Kigalik. It is John Petersen who provides him with the location.

It is thought to be a portal to the spiritworld by the local inhabitants.

The Anomaly is found above Lookout Ridge in Northern Alaska, at 69/02'12" N and 157/12'19" W, "on the north side of a small creek fifty paces or so to the west of a tall rock shaped like a standing bear..."
