Bigfoot
From Srafopedia
In one of his last letters home from Alaska, John Parry describes trying to see if the physicist Nelson is, like himself, using the archeological dig they’ve joined to look for what he calls the anomaly, the passage to another world of Eskimo legends. Parry’s strategy is casually to mention disputed sightings like that of Bigfoot, neither proven nor disproved, then slip in a reference to the window, and gauge Nelson’s reaction.
Also known as Sasquatch, Bigfoot is an elusive hairy wild ape-like man said to be between 7 and 9 feet tall who leaves behind footprints that are enormous, but who is otherwise human in appearance. Most sightings are in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States and Western Canada. For an exhaustive cataloguing of the arguments for and against its existence, see Wikipedia [1].
