Bolvangar

Bolvangar is the station created by the General Oblation Board in the North of Norroway. Here the Oblation Board performs experiments on children dealing with Dust, namely intercision. Roger is kidnapped by the Gobblers and taken to Bolvangar, for which Lyra wants to free him. She ends up at Bolvangar a captive herself, but with motive and eventually a means of escape.

Overview

Staff and members of the Oblation Board refer to it as "The Station." The term "Bolvangar," used by locals, means "Fields of Evil." However, the last part, vangar, would mean grass plains in Norwegian.
