Brytain

The country in which Lyra lives is called Brytain. As both Lyra’s World and ours co-exist in the same space and time, on different dimensional planes, Brytain is the equivalent to Britain in our world. Brytain is where Lyra's Oxford is situated and where she starts her adventures in Jordan College. This is an example of esoteric renaming.
