Daniel Craig is playing Lord Asriel in the Golden Compass movie released in 2007.

Biography Daniel Craig was born on March 2 1968 in Liverpool, England. His interest in acting started young and he often appeared in his school productions. At age 14 he auditioned for England's National Youth Theatre's troupe on their tour in Manchester. He was accepted and made his debut in Shakespeare's Troilus And Cressida. In 1988 he was accepted into the Guildhall School of Music and Drama at the Barbican. He studied there for three years then graduated in 1991. In 1992 he married Fiona Loudon and his daughter Ella was born in 1992 also. They divorced in 1994. In 1992 he made his film debut in The Power of One He continued acting in other films and some BBC dramas until he was turned into a household name when he starred in Casino Royale in 2006 as a brand new James Bond. Many critics were doubtful about him playing Bond; saying he was too old and most of all too blonde. But Casino Royale reviewed mostly excellent reviews and satisfied most Bond fans.

He has plans for two new movies: Defiance, about a Jewish freedom fighter in Nazi Times and Play the fool, about a British actor in his 40s.
