Mother of Will Parry, wife of John Parry, who disappeared a decade ago. Elaine develops a mental illness, possibly some form of paranoid psychosis, in which she develops farfetched conspiracy theories, has difficulty taking action, and becomes at times helpless. Will has to take care of her, but leaves her in the care of a neighbor after he "murders" one of the intruders and finds the window to Cittàgazze.
