Ermine

One of Pantalaimon's, Lyra's daemon, favourite forms, especially when cold. His fur has known to change colour - white when hostile and brown whilst calm. An Ermine is also said to be his favourite "sleeping form".

In Europe, an ermine's fur is worn as a symbol or royalty, and is a symbol of purity. In Nordic countries, a stoat symbolizes curiosity and timely action, while in Japan it is considered a sign of good luck.
