Good works
From Srafopedia
In Christian theology, good works are considered important, alongside faith, in order to receive salvation. In other words, it is not enough simply to believe in the statements of the religion, but one also has to live a good life, avoiding sin and practising charity.
However, St Paul warns against being proud of one's goodness, and reminds Christians that without God's grace their "works" are not sufficient. Protestant doctrine is that faith is all important, and that good works follow as a natural consequence.
Humanists believe that it is possible to work for the "good" of humanity, or of individuals, without the need for supernatural guidance or empowerment.
