Helicopter

It is probable that the helicopter is our world's version of Lord Asriel's Gyropter. It is a wingless aircraft that allows flight in every direction due to rotating blades generally located above the cockpit. These blades generate thrust upwards (due to the difference in air pressure above and below), and therefore generate lift to allow the aircraft to take off. Helicopters are the most common form of vertical take-off aircraft, allowing them to reach places that planes could not. The fastest speed a helicopter has ever achieved is 249 miles per hour, highlighting a disadvantage against aeroplanes - they are slower.
