Nun

A woman in the Catholic Church who have made a vow to serve God. In many ways they are the female version of the monk. Nuns are more commonly known though for their management of schools and helping people in need. Mary Malone has been a nun.

In Lyra's World, nuns are only featured once in a scene at the Consistorial Court of Discipline. Two nuns from the order of St. Philomel, Sister Agnes and Sister Monica, serve there as stenographers. They are sworn to silence.
