The dæmon of Tony Makarios, Ratter appeared usually in the form of a sparrow, but at one point, she was a mouse. Mrs. Coulter captured Tony largely by luring Ratter into the Golden Monkey's hand. Tony and Ratter undergo intercision at Bolvangar, and Tony is later found by Lyra clutching a dried fish in Ratter's place. When Tony dies, Ratter does as well.
