Republic of Heaven, the

The concept of building a utopia where each person lives due to the knowledge that there is not a Heaven after death. This is a stark contrast to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Lord Asriel's rebellion attempted to establish a physical Republic of Heaven, but due to the impossibility of permanently living in another world the rebellion was bound to fail. What it did accomplish, however, was to destroy the Authority and Metatron, deal the forces of the Church a crushing blow, and most importantly give Lyra and Will the chance to save the universes and build the foundation of the Republic that we all must build in our separate worlds.
