Retiring Room, the

A room for important scholars and guests of the master to unwind after dinner. Poppy and wine are served, and no women are allowed. Here, the story begins to unfold. Lord Asriel ventures to Jordan College in pursuit of funding for his explorations. At least 7 of the scholars were present at this meeting, held in the Retiring Room. Included are the Master of Jordan, the Palmerian Professor, the Sub-Rector, the Chaplain, the Librarian, the Enquirer, the Cassington Scholar, and the Dean.
