Full Name: Charles Latrom or Lord Boreal World: Our World Dæmon: Serpent Species: Human Gender: Male

A deceiving man in Will's Oxford who has access to a window into Will's world. He has seen Lyra work the Alethiometer and realizes its value. Known as Lord Boreal in Lyra's World, he is the ally and lover of Mrs. Coulter, Lyra's mother. While Lyra is in Will's world, Sir Charles offers Lyra a ride to where she can "meet her brother," and steals the Alethiometer from her, unbeknownst to Lyra. He may have not truly known the significance of the object he stole, though, because when Lyra and Will go to make an exhange bargain for it he asks what it is called, and then infers by this what it does. In the exchange bargain, he attempts to get the Subtle Knife from Will but fails. After breaking into his house, Lyra and Will regain the Alethiometer, and Mrs. Coulter eventually poisons him. His dæmon is a serpent.
